We have something unique for the addictive gamers out there. So far, we’d covered normal Android games you can play by holding the device in hands. However, today, we have something different to offer — some of the best AR games for Android. Augmented Reality, commonly known as AR, puts another layer over your reality.
If you follow us, Augmented Reality wouldn’t be a new term. Recently, we had brought a list of the best AR apps for Android too. Today, however, is for fun. Given below are some of the best Augmented Reality games you can play on your Android device today. Don’t worry if you have a low-end phone: we have some special recommendations too.
Best AR Games For Android
Out of all the AR games on Android that we tested, our number one pick would be Father.io, and nope it has nothing to with anyone’s dad it’s a first shooter game played in Augmented reality. The gameplay is pretty intuitive, you have to shoot the alien spaceship before they can kill you. Like every game, it’s simple at first but gets complicated as you go. The best thing about the app is, it’s the only AR app we could find that works on mid-range phones like the Redmi note 5. So, if you’re looking for a good AR game which is fun as well as channelling, give it try.
2. Pokémon Go
Pokémon Go has become the mandatory mention when covering the best AR games — for all good reasons. This game brings your favourite Pokémon characters to real life. You have to move across the real world and catch Pokémon to progress. It has also brought game elements like hatching and evolving. You can also get into the Trading feature if you’re interested. Also, Pokémon Go is one of the first Augmented Reality games that made an impressive change.

I love playing Jenga block in the office, but now that we’re under lockdown, there is no way to get it. However, you can play that only any surface now with Balanced Tower. The gameplay is just like Jenga, but here you have to remove blocks from the 3D model. The best part is, the app automatically puts the removed block on the top, so now you don’t have to fear knocking it off. The game has a solo mode, two-player and also the option to play with AI. So what’re you waiting for, knock some blocks!

19. AR Ruler App
We often don’t require a measuring tape but when we do, we all struggle to find it. So rather than struggling in the entire house to find it, you can simply use your phone as a measuring tool using this app. It uses your smartphone camera to detect a plane surface for a starting point. You can measure most of the things, such as distance, angle, perimeter and even volume of 3D objects.
The app is free however if you want to remove ads and archive your measurements, you’ll have to subscribe at $1.5/year, after a 3-day trial period.

20. AR Copy Paste
If you’re a designer and you work on Illustrator, Photoshop or other illustrative apps, imagine being able to pick any object that you like around you and copying it straight to the digital canvas. Cool right? The AR Copy Paste App lets you do exactly that. All you have to do is point your phone at an object you want to copy and move the phone to your desktop to paste it. The app essentially does it by separating the background with the foreground. It takes about two seconds to copy and four seconds to paste the object, but since it’s still in beta version, we can expect faster speed once it rolls out.
The app can only be accessed on request using this form. If you want to learn more about it you can check their website and also have a look at the source code.
